About GiraffePaper

GiraffePaper started from an ordinary annoyance: needing 1cm graph paper every couple of weeks, and printing it from the same site each time — until, one day, that site was down. That was enough to wonder whether there was room to do this better, so we looked at what else was out there.

What we found split into two camps. Some sites had the content but buried it under low-trust, cluttered ad units — the kind that mimic a system warning or a fake "install this" prompt. Others were bare, unstyled link tables that still ranked well despite offering no real design or explanation of what each grid type is actually for. Neither felt like something worth using twice.

So GiraffePaper is an attempt at a third option: every grid type explained, not just linked — who actually uses hexagonal paper, why engineering paper is measured in squares per inch, what a ternary grid is even for — plus real, accurate PDFs you can trust to print at the size they claim to be.

Why a giraffe

Jenny's coat pattern is drawn as small squares and diamonds rather than the organic blotches a real giraffe has — a deliberate nod to graph paper itself, so the connection between the mascot and the site is visual, not just a pun on "graph paper." She shows up throughout the site, and stars in the separate coloring pages for whenever the grid paper isn't the assignment.
